On September 30th, we went to the Peggy Notebart Nature Museum to check out the Butterfly Haven exhibit since we are studying life cycles and have our own little butterfly haven in the classrooms. Not only were we fascinated by this exhibit, but many others too! We got to get hands on with an endangered Blanding's Turtle named Bob and a Darkling Beetle during our class- Animals Up Close. We learned how to observe and draw like scientists. We even saw some baby quails- perfect since we had just been learning about bird life cycles AND we had a surprise visitor on our bus ride home... A grasshopper! We had just finished a KWL and book about grasshoppers and their life cycles, so this critter's timing couldn't have been better. He now resides in our classrooms- the newest MA member! We had such a great time visiting the museum and thanks to the moms who came with and sent in these pics! Enjoy!
