WORTH REPEATING!
Parent/Teacher Conferences: November 25th and 26th: Sign-up for times will be on signupgenius.com this year. We have recently received training and are in the process of setting up our schedules. We will provide the link that will take you to the site where you can choose your conference time. You will receive an email reminder from signupgenius 3 days prior to your conference date. Parents can begin signing up on NOVEMBER 1st, once we provide the link. Let us know if you have questions!
RAZ KIDS INFO: Students can choose to do Raz kids from home as a part of their reading homework. If they read from their "assignments" or "book room", this can be included on their reading log. Please do not include time spent in the "Rocket Room". The only exception to this will be on nights where they have reading group homework. Students must first complete their reading group homework BEFORE doing Raz Kids. Parents should have received the login info in your child's green folders...Thanks!!
2nd Grade Families: Xtramath! 2nd graders should be doing Xtramath (fact practice) from home AT LEAST once a week as a part of their homework. The kids are experts at this and do it regularly in class, so they should just need a reminder to go on the site. The rest should be independent. It only takes about 5 minutes to complete the activity. THANKS!
Dreambox... This is a math program similar to Raz Kids- it's designed so kids can work on math concepts at their own level. Currently, all 1st and 2nd graders are able to get in through both of our websites (off the Westgate School webpage) and we have practiced too.
Olivia: This week is spider week! We are going to be learning all about spiders by reading books, doing activities, and doing projects! We also have started Habit 5 for Leader and Me this week, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. In second grade math, we are doing frames and arrows with 2 rules. In first grade math, they are doing addition and subtraction, shape patterns, and working on number models. We are also designing our own islands and then writing about them. As other exiting news,we have some painted lady butterflies! The most important thing I learned this week was all about habit 5, Seek First to Understand, Then To Be Understood in Leader and Me.This is important because it will teach me and the rest of my class, how to become better students.
Maeve: We have been learning about the 7 habit's and we are on habit 5. seek first to understand then to be understood. The most important thing I learned this week was about Florida. we were reaching a state that we picked. This is important because we can learn about other state that we never been to. And we never heard of too.
